Released with the hype usually reserved for Police Academy sequels, First One To Die Loses V saw the dramatic return of Wil Rees as Ice Phoenix. "We'd tried to keep it a secret, so that the audience would be shocked when they saw Ice again," explained Wil Rees, "but someone told everybody". "I didn't realise it was supposed to be a secret," admitted Harri Grace.
But Part V was also famous for the on-set animosity between two of the series newest members, comedian Rory McGrath (The Grizzler), and the previously unknown Danial Mundalzan (Demolition Dan). Dan confirmed there was no love lost between the two, saying of his co-star, "Oooh, I'm Rory McGrath, I'm so funny, look at me making jokes.” The last member of the team was the deeply religious Rob Clarke (The Heathen). He commented, "The important thing for the audience to bear in mind, is that in real life, Jesus was the first one to die, while we were the ones who lost."
