Here is an exclusively released poem by FOTDL star Joe Rowson. Dubbing himself The Beatkeeper, Rowson modestly downplays his talent, "I'm just a street poet. For a lot of kids in Llantwit Major (where Rowson grew up), poetry is the one outlet for their anger and frustration. It's either that or playing knock -door-scat. The important thing for me is that people know that I keep it real, even if I live in Cardiff now. I'm still a Llantwit boy at heart, that'll never change, you can see that in my poetry".

Asked whether he still visits Llantwit Major, Rowson is clearly still in touch with his roots, "I get back there as often as I can, especially when there's a big poetry battle going down. I mean some of the rhymers you see, the talent just blows your mind. This one kid the other week, rhymed potato with ergonomics. You wouldn't think it was possible but he did it."
